Scottish Golf mourns passing of Scottish International Bryan Shields

Scottish Golf is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Scottish International Bryan Shields. Bryan, who was a member of Bathgate Golf Club, passed away at the age of 54 following a battle with cancer. Shields enjoyed success as a Scotland international at all ranks having represented his country at boys, youths and full level.

He also enjoyed success throughout his amateur career where he was crowned 1984 Scottish Youths Champion beating Colin Montgomerie to third place. Bryan also enjoyed a semi-final appearance at the 1986 Amateur Championship which took place at Royal Lytham.

Representing the Lothians at county level, Shields was part of the winning team on a number of occasions in the Scottish Area Team Championships during the 1990s.

Andrew McKinlay, CEO of Scottish Golf said, “On behalf of all of us at Scottish Golf, I would like to extend our deepest condolences to Bryan’s family and friends from around the golf community in Scotland at this very difficult time.”
