Loretto School, located in East Lothian and surrounded by a choice of magnificent links courses, has a strong tradition of top-level golf. This tradition has blossomed into The Loretto Golf Academy, established in 2002, and its Indoor Centre opened by Sam Torrance OBE in 2015. The Academy is directed by the School’s resident Golf Professional, Rick Valentine, and a team of top-class coaching professionals.

The Loretto Golf Academy delivers golf to more than 200 pupils a week, aged 5 to 18, and runs a number of Golf Camps throughout the year. Golfers can practice year-around at the Academy’s state-of-art outdoor and indoor centres, boasting putting and full swing studios with video analysis, SAM PuttLab, and Trackman. This makes Loretto one of the top independent schools in Europe offering golf, and attracting young players from around the world.

Loretto School pupils are offered an exceptional opportunity to develop their sporting talent in tandem with a first-class, all-round education. Children access golf coaching from the first year of Junior School through the activities programme. At Senior School, pupils can join the Golf Academy’s Development and Senior Squads, and receive one-to-one coaching as well as representing Loretto in tournaments and matches. For elite golfers, Loretto’s Performance Squad offers an advanced extension programme, with an intensive schedule of one-to-one coaching, practice, and tournament play.

The Loretto Golf Academy’s unsurpassed reputation commands nine National titles, including HMC Foursomes, Independent Schools’ Golf Association, National Finals and Home Internationals.

Loretto’s partnership with Scottish Golf stretches back to 2004 and the school has been official sponsors of the Scottish Boys & Girls Under-14s Championship since then, helping unearth talents such as 2014 Amateur champion Bradley Neil.
